So the big question I have for you is this. Does your website get enough traffic to keep it alive or is your website on life support? Seriously the Internet is just like any regular brick or mortar business from the aspect that just like a brick & mortar needs bodies coming in and out to make sales, so does your website. However, we know just like the people who go to stores offline, some are there to browse while others are there to buy. So we just don’t want any and all traffic but targeted high quality traffic with visitors who are looking to spend money, or at least far enough into the buying process that they will be willing to make a decision with the right information.
Now this is where most people get stuck – because I think it’s quite obvious people need highly targeted and qualified visitors coming to their websites. However where do you find these highly targeted qualified visitors? There are literally hundreds if not thousands of ways to get traffic to a website, and it can be quite overwhelming because there are so many moving pieces to take into consideration.
Traditionally, the easiest and fastest way to get traffic to your website was to simply buy it. However when it comes to buying traffic, it can get very complicated even if you are taking the most obvious route which is to just buy it from the search engines like Google, Yahoo, or Bing. I mean who has time to understand Quality Score algorithms, effective keyword research, split testing, site targeting, negative keywords, etc? The list goes on and on. This is the main reason a lot of people get stuck and don’t do anything at all, because the learning curve for using paid traffic seems too steep.
Now don’t get me wrong. I’m a huge fan of paid traffic and I thinks it’s the best and most consistent way to generate leads that eventually become customers, but what if you could get more leads and customers for FREE by just writing? What do I mean by that? Well it is quite simple, when it comes to driving free traffic to your website the search engines is the place to be. However, you cannot expect to just set up a website and boom, instant traffic. I wish it were that easy. The one thing that we know for sure is that the search engines want and need content. I don’t mean junk spun articles that don’t make any sense when you read them, but well-thought out, quality content that provides true value to the visitor like the blog post you are reading now.
Writing high quality content is a huge piece of an even bigger puzzle that you may have heard of called SEO. Now don’t cringe up and stop reading because of one measly little word like SEO, which by the way stands for Search Engine Optimization. It’s not as difficult and mystical as many make it out to be. Now, I did not always feel that way because when I first began learning about SEO back in 2002 it was like teaching someone who never learned how to read or write to become a Greek scholar and philosopher in 2 weeks, but I digress. The reality is yes you can get tons of FREE traffic coming to your website in no time just by simply writing Good quality content in a very specific way.
